Although your humble correspondent feels otherwise, the majority of folks would rather have the $100 bill than a compliment from a stranger. Don’t get me wrong, I could always use $100, but I have such a crippling need for validation that I’d take a compliment from someone over just about anything.

A couple people made the argument that with $100 you could buy any number of compliments. I admit that’s a pretty compelling argument.

While this may seem insane to those who choose a Benjamin, studies have shown that compliments from strangers make a longer lasting positive impression.

With an extra $100, I could buy a lot of candy... and is that not the best compliment anyone can receive‽
